The PSNI have launched an investigation into potential breaches of Covid-19 restrictions at this past Sunday’s Derry SFC final in Bellaghy.

There had been complaints by some supporters over the lack of social distancing at the match between Slaughtneil and Magherafelt two days ago.

Speaking on the matter, Northern Ireland’s Health Minister Robin Swann said he “would have liked to have seen more stringent application of the guidance.”

Derry GAA stood by its handling of the final and said it took measures, which included changing the venue from Celtic Park to Bellaghy, to make sure that guidelines were adhered to.

"It was an all-ticket event with restricted numbers and advice on GAA and health protocols were, including social distancing, widely communicated in the lead-up to and during the game," a statement from the Derry county board read.
