Wicklow forward Mark Kenny has revealed that their game plan against London worked perfectly.
The Garden County held a 13-point lead at half time after a whirlwind first half and Kenny revealed to the Wicklow People that they had worked on starting fast in training.
It was an impressive display by Wicklow and all the more satisfying is the fact that they had replicated what they had been doing on the training pitch.
“We knew we had to get at them quickly and set the tempo early on,” said Kenny. “The high press was a big focus for us in training during the week and that worked for us.
“We were able to pick London off in the first half with some good scores. They peppered our goal after the break, but we were disciplined and dug in when it mattered.”
