Charlie calls for change

Charlie Redmond says Dublin’s annihilation of Louth proves that “the time has come for change”.

The Dubs, despite being down to 14 men, cruised to their biggest-ever victory over the Wee County at Portlaoise on Saturday and 1995 hero Redmond reckons enough is enough:

“It seems to me now that the gap that existed in my day between the best team and the worst team in the country is probably now the same as the gap that exists between the best team in the country and probably the ninth team in the country,” the Dublin legend told 98FM.

“Dublin’s win of 26 points … I played in games where the two teams wouldn’t score 26 points between them. If you got a game that was 1-11 to 1-9, you would think you’d seen a decent competitive game of football. The time has come for change and it’s a conversation we have to have.”
