Donegal’s push for promotion to Division 1 has been dealt a blow with the news that 2012 All-Ireland winner Martin McElhinney has left the panel.

The Donegal News is reporting that Declan Bonner will have to plan without the services of the St Michael’s clubman for the remainder of the campaign.

McElhinney started the Tir Chonaill side’s round 2 win over Meath and featured as a substitute against Clare and Tipperary.

He was an unused substitute in the round 4 and 5 games against Fermanagh and Armagh respectively.
