Goalkeeper Martin Stackpoole is the toast of Lixnaw this evening after his stoppage time penalty save saw them crowned Kerry senior hurling champions.
It finished Lixnaw 1-16, Kilmoyley 2-11 at Austin Stack Park today following a dramatic conclusion.
The losing side was awarded a penalty in the fifth minute of injury time but Stackpoole came to his team's rescue when saving Daniel Collins' attempt.
The ball did end up in the winners' net via a rebound but the referee had sounded the full-time whistle and it's Lixnaw who are celebrating a 9th county title success.
The newly crowned champions - who lost out at this stage to Ballyduff 12 months ago - had led by three points (1-7 to 1-4) at the halfway stage.
