Carlow kept up their push for a place in the inaugural Joe McDonagh Cup final with a 2-25 to 2-15 win over Laois in O'Moore Park today.

The O'Moore County are out of the running after playing second fiddle to Colm Bonnar's impressive Barrowsiders in the second-half.

The visitors got off to the best possible start with Edward Byrne finding the back of the Laois net in the 3rd minute but Eamonn Kelly's side responded with a goal from an Enda Rowland penalty.

The sides went in level at the break on 1-9 apiece.

There was only one team in it after the break, however, and Diarmuid Byrne's goal was the highlight as they outscored the O'Moore County by 1-16 to 1-6.

Ryan Mullaney netted a late consolation goal for Laois but Carlow will seal a place in the final if they can get the better of Westmeath in the final round of group games on June 30.
