Keith Higgins couldn't save Ballyhaunis from relegation to the Mayo intermediate ranks yesterday.

The dual star won a Mayo SHC medal with Ballyhaunis at the end of October, but his year has ended in disappointment after his club suffered a 0-6 to 1-11 defeat to Ballinrobe in the SFC relegation final at Davitt Park.

Kevin Quinn bagged 1-4 for the winners as Ballyhaunis returned to the intermediate championship after spending just two seasons in the top flight.

Also yesterday, Louisburgh added the Mayo U21 'B' football title to their county and provincial junior crowns following a 2-15 to 2-9 victory over Charlestown at Elvery's MacHale Park.
