Shane Brick, who is regarded as one of Kerry's greatest ever hurlers, has retired from the game.

There were hopes that Brick would make one final appearance for Kilmoyley in next Sunday's Munster club IHC final against Lismore of Waterford, but that has now been ruled out. Brick recently re-joined his home club from Cork outfit Tracton and scored three points in the Kerry SHC final replay win over St. Brendan's, which earned him his seventh county medal.

However, he opted not to make himself available for the provincial campaign due to an ongoing hip problem and confirmed his retirement to this week's Kerry's Eye.
