Former Waterford footballer Gary Hurney turned back the clock with an impressive performance in the county SFC semi-final last weekend.

Hurney scored 1-05 out of his side Ballinacourty's total of 1-10 as they defeated Stradbally by three points.

In the end it was Hurney's goal that proved the difference between the sides and Ballinacourty goalkeeper Stephen Enright paid tribute to his team mate.

"It's always great to have him as an option at full forward with the high ball. He's probably been the best footballer in Waterford for the last 15 to twenty years. We're just lucky to have him in our team," Enright told the Waterford News & Star.

Ballinacourty now take on old rivals The Nire in the County SFC final at Fraher Field this Sunday afternoon.
