Ireland 4-18
Scotland 2-11
Kerry's Philip Lucid shot 0-13 (0-11 from placed balls) as Ireland comfortably saw off Scotland in today's U21 Shinty/Hurling International in Inverness.
Wicklow's Daniel Staunton also chipped in with 1-4 as the charges of Conor Phelan and Willie Maher put on an impressive display. Lucid scored a free from the ground to give the visitors an early two-point lead, only for Danny Kelly to reply with a goal for the Scots. But it was all Ireland after that as goals from Kildare's Jack Sheridan and Tipp's Tom Fox helped them to a 2-7 to 0-6 lead before Will Cowie got one back for the hosts.
However, a third Irish goal from Tipperary's Andrew Coffey left the visitors 10 points clear at the break.
A Charlie MacDonald major helped the Scots to reduce the deficit to just two points in the third quarter, but their fightback was ended when Staunton netted at the other end. Staunton and Lucid scored seven points between them in the final quarter as Ireland closed out the game in impressive fashion.
