Monaleen lifted the Fr Casey Cup for the first time since 2011 and the sixth time in their history after overcoming Dromcollogher-Broadford by 2-14 to 1-11 in tonight's Limerick SFC final at the Gaelic Grounds.

Muiris Gavin's charges recovered from the concession of an early goal to take control as Paul Kinnerk, Jason Nash and Finbarr Nash claimed their fifth winners' medals. Drom-Broadford, who were seeking to make amends for last year's final defeat to Newcastle West, got off to a dream start when Kevin Noonan netted after just four minutes. But the city side's response was impressive as Graham O'Connell and Ger Collins kicked points before wing back Shane Cusack scored a goal to give them a 1-4 to 1-0 lead after 11 minutes.

Drom-Broadford rallied to reduce the deficit to the minimum, 1-3 to 1-4, at the end of the opening quarter. But a second Monaleen major from corner back Colm Moran in the 22nd minute helped them to a 2-7 to 1-5 lead at the end of a first half which was notable for the fact that neither team registered a wide.

The West Limerick side resumed with points from Derry McCarthy and Micheal Brosnan, but a Ger Collins brace had Monaleen 2-10 to 1-7 ahead entering the final quarter.

Points from Kevin Noonan and Killian Phair left a goal in it with eight minutes remaining, but Monaleen weren't to be denied as late efforts from Collins - who top-scored with 0-6 - Brian O'Donovan and Barry Fitzpatrick put the result beyond doubt.

Monaleen will face the Cork champions in the first round of the Munster club SFC on October 30.
