Fears that the All-Ireland hurling final attendance would be down on previous years have been allayed after over 82,000 passed through the Croke Park turnstiles this afternoon.
An official attendance of 82,060 has been announced by the GAA, which is just 240 short of capacity.
Tickets were more readily available than usual in the lead-up to the Kilkenny v Tipperary decider, and were still on general sale up until Wednesday.
