One of those remarkable stories popped up in Donegal today as a Division One league game finished on a final scoreline of 0-3 to 0-2.
Glenswilly and St Eunan's - two of the biggest hitters in the Tir Chonaill County over the past decade - finished with a grand total of five points between them over the 60 minutes, with the former emerging victorious by one point (if our maths are right).
Donegal GAA Results tweeted the result this afternoon looking for information about the game and pointing out that they hadn't heard of such a low scoring affair in top tier football.
Former county team mates Kevin Cassidy and Eamon McGee also had their say on Twitter about the result.
Wow Division 1 result Glenswilly 0-03 St Eunans 0-02 I don't recall such a low scoring division 1 match anyone at it who can fill us in?

Tweet@KCASS7 an all Ireland final finished 1-1 to 0-1 point and that was over one hundred years ago. Relax. The end is most definitely not here!
