Galway make their way out for the Leinster final

A former Galway defender wasn't too impressed by some of the Tribesmen's histrionics over the weekend.

The image of one of his fellow countymen wildly celebrating winning a free-out in the Leinster SHC final against Kilkenny at Croke Park stuck in Greg Kennedy's craw - even more so when the Cats regrouped to win the game in a typically no-nonsense fashion.

In the end, it appeared that Galway were celebrating winning frees more than Kilkenny celebrated winning the match!

"This fist-pumping after scoring or winning a free, it drives me bananas," Kennedy told The Irish Examiner. "The only time you should be encouraging yourself or celebrating like that is when you've the game won or when you win a ball, clear it and shout over to the next fella 'we have to keep doing more of that'.

"There's no need for the dramatics. It doesn't look right and it's not something you see Kilkenny doing often. Win your own ball, find a team-mate, move on. Find the posts, anticipate the puck-out, move on."
