Morgan O'Flaherty has returned to the Kildare football squad ahead of Saturday's Allianz League Division 3 final against Clare.

The Carbury clubman has rejoined his brother Eoghan on the panel after taking a year out from the inter-county scene. Manager Cian O'Neill has also called up Shane McNamara and the U21 trio of Ben McCormack, Con Kavanagh and Chris Healy.

"We invited in several players in the last week or so. Many committed, some couldn't for some reasons," O'Neill explained to Kildare Now.

"My focus is on the five guys that did come in. Shane McNamara from Celbridge and Morgan O'Flaherty. He has got a lot of match time under his belt with his club, which is something we couldn't guarantee with the county squad when he was coming back from injury. We've been happy with how he has been performing for Carbury."

Meanwhile, Daniel Flynn won't feature next weekend as he continues to nurse the hamstring injury he suffered against Tipperary in the second last round of the regulation series.

"Dan is on an extended rehab programme as feared. He's a powerful man, so when you see him tearing when kicking a ball you can imagine it's not a small tear. It's a Grade 2 tear," O'Neill added.

"He's doubtful, he probably won't be available for Wexford [in the Leinster SFC]. We're looking at eight weeks without him. You'd anticipate that he'd be back training up to that point, but I just don't think you could risk him. I'd like to think straight away after that [he'd be available]."
