Castlebar Mitchel's joint-manager Declan Shaw was full of praise for Barry Moran after his late point sent the Mayo champions through to their second All-Ireland club SFC final in three years.

After a quiet first half, the county midfielder burst into life in the second half as Castlebar edged out Crossmaglen by 0-13 to 0-12.

"Barry Moran stood up," Shaw noted in the Western People.

"He didn't have the best first half, but that's Barry, he realised at half-time that he wasn't playing well and he came out and turned things around in the second half. We've got some great characters in there. They've been on the road for six or seven years now, we knew they could dig deep."

He added: "The first half (midfield performance) wasn't acceptable at all from us. It's normally a powerhouse for us around midfield and it was very poor. We just weren't physical enough.

"I thought we did an awful lot better in the second half and we won an awful lot of breaking ball through our half forwards and half backs, which we didn't do in the first half.

"Crossmaglen are a great team, they won't throw in the towel easily and we saw that there in the last few minutes of the game."
