Pete McGrath was delighted with Fermanagh's strong finish against Meath.

The Erne County recorded their 10th straight victory in Enniskillen since June 2014 after scoring five unanswered points in the final quarter.

"That was a memorable victory and a memorable day," the Down man enthused in the Irish News.

"Meath brought all their qualities here today, including durability and physicality, but we got stronger as the game went on.

"We needed to take the game by the throat in the last 15 minutes and thankfully we did that and the scores eventually came. There was a marvellous atmosphere here today and the crowd were enthralled and I hope they went home happy with the victory."

Meath had Andrew Tormey sent off after only 23 minutes, but their manager Mick O'Dowd wasn't using it as an excuse.

"We scored six points and only one from play - end of story," he said.

"We only conceded 10 points, which is not bad especially with 14 men, but our attacking play was very poor. If you'd asked me this morning I'd have said we couldn't have prepared any better. Things went very well during the week. But you have to be ready. We knew what to expect coming up here and it's not an excuse for six points.

"We weren't able to work the ball into the shooting zone and I'd put that down to a low energy in our attacking play."
