Sligo captain Johnny Martyn lifts the 2014 Connacht JFC Cup

Sligo defender Johnny Martyn is recovering in hospital after suffering his second stroke in two years.

The 34-year-old had felt unwell whilst warming up during the second-half last Sunday's FBD SFL clash against Leitrim and had to be treated by team doctor Declan Clinton.

He was later brought to hospital where he will be continually monitored over the next few days.

Martyn previously suffered a stroke in the days before Sligo's 2014 All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Cork, making a remarkable recovery after doctors had diagnosed him with a small hole in the heart.

After undergoing surgery to correct the problem, Martyn was back playing within two months.
