Wicklow's Paddy Dalton has announced his retirement from inter-county football.
Widely regarded as one of Wicklow's most versatile players and longest servants, Dalton won a Tommy Murphy Cup in 1997 during Mick O'Dwyer's reign with the Garden County.
2011 saw him captain St Mary's from centre-field when they dethroned Rathnew to capture the county senior championship title.
Current Wicklow boss Johnny Magee has since paid tribute to Dalton by branding him 'one of the great leaders of his era'.
"I am sorry that Paddy will be leaving us and I will miss one of the great leaders of his era," Magee told Wickowgaa.net.
"Paddy gave unbelievable commitment to the Wicklow cause. His attitude to training and his easy, friendly personality made him a joy to work with.
"Paddy is one of the hardest workers that I know and he may be stepping back as an inter-county player but he has already immersed himself in the development of the future stars of the game. Paddy has given freely of his time to work with the players of the development squads and is currently working with the County Minor Footballers."
