It was a case of third time lucky for Clontibret who defeated Ballybay 1-5 to 0-6 in their second replay to qualify for the Monaghan SFC semi-finals.

Conor McManus scored all of Clontibret's points, while his county team-mate Vinny Corey raised the game's only green flag as the champions prevailed after another close contest at Inniskeen on Friday night. All is not lost for Ballybay who will have another chance in the backdoor series against Castleblayney Faughs next weekend.

Magheracloone also needed three attempts to see off Latton to qualify for a quarter-final meeting with Monaghan Harps at Castleblayney on Saturday evening. Tommy Freeman posted 0-8 in a 2-15 to 1-17 victory, with Hugh McElroy having accounted for 1-7 of the losers' tally.
