Still reeling from last Sunday's Munster SHC semi-final defeat to Waterford, Cork are set to be dealt another blow with reports that Jamie Coughlan is set to spend the rest of the summer in the US.

Selector Johnny Crowley admitted to the Irish Examiner that he is aware that Coughlan is thinking of heading Stateside, but added that the player had yet to inform the management of his intentions.

If the Newtownshandrum clubman decides to go, he will be the third player to exit Jimmy Barry-Murphy's squad this year, with fellow attacker Cian McCarthy and defender Conor O'Sullivan having opted out in March and April respectively.

Coughlan hasn't started a championship game for the Rebels since the drawn All-Ireland final against Clare in 2013, and this is only adding to speculation that he is about to jump ship.

Cork's next outing will be in the first round of the All-Ireland qualifiers against as of yet unknown opposition on Saturday, July 4.
