At 37 years of age, Mike Frank Russell could be forgiven for contemplating hanging up his boots after an illustrious career, but that is not the case for the former Kerry stalwart.
Russell has not lined out with the Kingdom since 2009, but has continued to give his heart and soul for his club as he prepares to embark on another campaign with Laune Rangers.
So what drives the five-time All-Ireland on these days? He was emphatic in his reply when asked by the Kerryman.
"I just love football. I love playing football. I love watching football. I love reading about football. It's a drug to me," stressed Russell.
"It's all I ever known and done since I was young. Growing up all I ever wanted to do was play with Kerry.
"When I finished with Kerry there was such a void and I was mad to still play football. It was like taking something off a baby. So it was great to be able to go back to the club, and thankfully I've enjoyed a good career with the club since I finished."
