Terry Hyland has explained the reasons behind Joshua Hayes and Philip Tinnelly's exit from the Cavan senior football panel.

Cootehill's Hayes and Kingscourt's Tinnelly departed the panel mid-week and, speaking to The Anglo Celt, the Breffni boss said: "Josh is doing medical exams and apart from football, people have to study and work and they need life balance.

"Josh is putting in huge hours and Philly Tinnelly the same, he is working in Dublin and commuting from Kingscourt and then down to Cavan for training.

"It's an awful lot of travelling and it has to be balanced with all the different variables."

Both players left the panel on good terms with Hyland adding: "No player has left the panel on bad terms as far I'm concerned in my tenure."
