Jonny Cooper played his first game for Dublin since he was the victim of an unprovoked stabbing nearly four months ago.

The 24-year-old was hospitalised after he was stabbed in the early hours of the morning of September 20 in Dublin's inner-city, but has since made a full recovery from his injuries and the ordeal, and GAA fans were delighted to see him come off the bench in Dublin's one-point O'Byrne Cup victory over Laois yesterday.

Dublin GAA chief executive John Costello enthused: "Obviously we're all delighted to have him back, he's a valuable member of our squad and it's great that he could play."

Mark Lavelle, originally from Swinford, Co. Mayo but with an address at Basin Street, Dublin 8, has been charged with assault causing harm to the Na Fianna defender.
