Michael Johnston is the new Down hurling manager.
The sub-committee established to find a new hurling manager put forward Johnston for ratification and the Down executive have given him the go-ahead.
The Antrim native and former Armagh manager takes over from Gerard Monan who stepped down earlier this year and he will be tasked with guiding the county to Christy Ring Cup honours again.
Johnston has brought in Michael McCullough as coach, while the rest of his backroom team will be completed in the coming weeks.
