Greville 'gutted'

Raharney manager Johnny Greville believes yesterday's agonising Leinster club SHC semi-final defeat to Kilcormac/Killoughey was a missed opportunity for Westmeath hurling.

Leading by two points with five minutes remaining, the Deelsiders were on the cusp of becoming the first Westmeath club to reach a provincial senior hurling final, but conceded an unanswered 1-4 in the time remaining to succumb to a 1-8 to 1-13 defeat.

"We're absolutely gutted," a crestfallen Greville said.

"The scoreline at the end isn't really a fair reflection of the game as a whole. That 25 minutes in the second half was probably the best we've played all year.

"It could have been an injection for the whole of Westmeath for us to get a step further. We're getting a bit sick of moral victories now. We want to be winning these big games.

"Our lads are young. They were coming up against a formidable outfit. They're a seasoned team.

"At the end of the day, it probably came down to their little bit of cuteness, but we hope this experience will stand to us."
