Many tributes have been paid on twitter to Offaly hurler Rory Hanniffy, who announced his inter-county retirement last night.
The versatile Birr clubman made 45 championship appearances for the Faithful County during a 14-year senior career which, surprisingly, yielded just a pair of Allianz League Division 2 medals in 2005 and '09.
Hanniffy is also the holder of Leinster minor and U21 medals (both won in 2000), two All-Ireland club medals (2002 and 2003) and half a dozen county championship medals.
Best of luck Rory Hanniffy in your retirement. Youve done so much for @Offaly_GAA over the lst 14 yrs. Giant on the pitch, gentleman off it!

Best wishes to Rory Hanniffy. One of my favourite hurlers. A class act and always seemed to have more time on the ball than anyone else
