Gary McCooey has dropped himself off the Armagh senior football panel.

The Irish News reports the Cullyhanna defender walked away from the squad following the drawn match against Monaghan.

McCooey was introduced as a substitute during the Ulster SFC quarter-final win over Cavan but was understood to be disillusioned with a lack of game time.

The Orchard County will look to put the disappointment of last Sunday's replay defeat by Monaghan behind them them when they take on Tyrone in the qualifiers. Tweet
