Ger Brennan has returned from injury in time for St. Vincent's and Dublin's championship campaigns.

The centre back underwent surgery on a stomach muscle problem after captaining St. Vincent's to All-Ireland club glory on St. Patrick's Day, but made his comeback in a challenge match on Wednesday and has declared himself fit for the Marino side's opening defence of their Dublin SFC crown against St. Pat's of Palmerstown next week.

"I'm feeling great. I've been working hard with the medical team to get back and played a challenge game with the club on Wednesday. I hope to be available for selection next Wednesday in the club championship," Brennan told the Irish Independent.

"It (the injury) was similar to Gilmore's groin, so I had to get an operation on that. I got back to a point of fitness where I was able to perform without hurting myself for the club, but it was never enough to sustain the demands of inter-county football.

"I needed to take a couple of weeks to get it right, and even mentally I probably needed to get away and have a bit of a break. I needed physically to do a bit of work and mentally to switch off."
