Cavan captain Conor Moynagh was overjoyed as the Breffni County claimed their fourth Ulster Under 21 title in succession at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh tonight.
Black-carded after just 23 minutes, Moynagh was forced to watch the bulk of the game from the sideline, and was immensely proud of his sides character to dig victory from the jaws of defeat late on.
"I'm absoultely delighted," Moynagh beamed after the game.
"It's nothing more than the lads deserve. We have trained all year for this, and this is what we were aiming for.
"Hopefully we can take it one step further, and we look forward to Dublin now in Portlaoise in two weeks time."
Donegal showed huge intensity in the second half, to move from three points in arrears, to take a two-point lead, with as many minutes remaining.
However, Cavan pushed Donegal to the sword with Peter Reilly's charges shining through in the end.
"Donegal are a quality team with quality individuals and we knew that was going to happen.
"We have a panel of 37 players and we wouldn't replace any one of them, no matter who the opposition.
"That proved in the last few minutes when we brought subs on and they finished out the game.
"The lads were hungry and fit and were determined. They wanted it more and that shone through in the end.
"I'm one of 37 leaders on this team, and me coming off the pitch made no difference to the team because the boys we have on the panel are probably better than I am."
