Having spent the last two years with Leitrim, the birthplace of his father, Enda Williams is looking forward to pulling on the Longford jersey again.

The Clonguish clubman has transferred back to his native county and it's been a case of so far so good under new manager Jack Sheedy.

"I am grateful to Leitrim for the last couple of years, fellas I would have got friendly with, like Emlyn (Mulligan) just wishing me the best of luck," he said to the Irish Daily Star.

"Jack Sheedy didn't put too much pressure on me - he said how it was and asked me to think about it.

"After speaking to a few people I just decided it was too good an opportunity to turn down.

"It's my home county ... so you would have developed a bond.

"In the end I just followed my heart and it said it was the right thing to do.

"I am delighted with the decision I made because it's going great for me so far.

"Jack is after bringing a very professional set-up to the table."

A Leinster minor medalist, Williams explained his reason for quitting Longford in favour of Leitrim two years ago.

"Things weren't working out as good as I wanted with Longford and the opportunity arose.

"I felt I could still offer something at county football. It turned out well in the end. That year I joined them was reasonably successful."
