All-Ireland champions Dublin brought the curtain down on a perfect year when they trounced the Dubs Stars by 25 points at the Round Tower GAA grounds in Clonadalkin on New Year's Eve.

Two goals from Paul Mannion inside the opening four minutes set Jim Gavin's men up for a facile victory over their depleted opponents. The Dubs Stars had to wait until the 15th minute for their opening score from Mossy Quinn from a free, but despite the best efforts of Davy Byrne and Ryan Basquel, they trailed by 0-2 to 4-9 at the break with Ciaran Reddin and Conor Walsh adding further goals for the winners.

Substitute Paul Hudson tormented the Dubs Stars by scoring 1-4 after the restart. Quinn raised a green flag for the losers in the 41st minute, but there was no respite as Philly Ryan hit back immediately with a similar score for the rampant All-Ireland champions, who will travel to Mullingar for the opening round of the O'Byrne Cup against Westmeath on Sunday in fine fettle.
