Derry edged out Armagh - who had two players black carded - after extra-time in a keenly contested O Fiaich Cup final at Crossmaglen.

Ethan Rafferty (60 mins) and Brian Mallon (77 mins) were both dismissed for dragging down opponents and Orchard County manager Paul Grimley voiced his opposition to the new rule afterwards: "Under those rules, they were black cards, but I'm no big fan of it," he told the Irish Independent.

"I don't think a rule change was needed but we have to live with it now."

The sides finished level on 2-13 apiece at the end of 70 minutes and the Oak Leaf County outscored the hosts by three points to two in extra-time.

Derry substitute James Kearney sent over the winning point in the second half of extra-time.

Declan Mullan and Mark Lynch raised green flags for Derry while Kyle Carragher and Jamie Clarke (penalty) were on target for Grimley's charges.
