Kielt says GPS 'sports bras' serve a purpose

James Kielt has backed Derry's decision to wear GPS tracking devices underneath their jerseys in last Sunday's O'Fiaich Cup game against Down.
The centre forward believes the devices have an important role to play in the modern game, despite former Clare hurling manager Ger Loughnane memorably branding the units as 'stupid gimmickry' after the Galway hurlers wore them in last April's Allianz League semi-final against Kilkenny.
"We were thinking they were sports bras!" Kielt joked in the Belfast Telegraph.
"It's just one of those things that maybe it wasn't as important today, but come the end of the season in big games, you can see who is tired, who is not, and who to take off."
With the new black card rule in use and inter-county teams back in training, Kielt is welcoming the games the O'Fiaich Cup is providing the competing counties.
"It's better than training. With the rule being brought in with teams not training until December, everybody knows teams are training away, but you can't play matches. It's all games now."
