Speculation is growing that former Roscommon footballer Nigel Dineen is set to run in next year's local elections.

The current Roscommon under-21 manager is set to throw his hat in the ring for the new Roscommon-Castlerea Electoral Area in 2014.

Speculation is growing that Dineen will run as an independent candidate and threw his connections in the GAA and his business as an auctioneer, he is sure to have plenty of backing.

Dineen still lines out for his club Castlerea St Kevin's, with who he won three county titles, while he also won a Connacht SFC medal in 2001 during an inter-county career that spanned from 1994 to 2005. Tweet
