Midleton 2-15
Sarsfields 2-13
County star Conor Lehane inspired Midleton to a first Cork SHC title in 22 years at the expense of Sarsfields in Pairc Ui Chaoimh yesterday.
Left half-forward Lehane accounted for all bar five points of the winners' final tally of 2-15 and he registered 2-7 from open play.
Lehane accumulated 2-7 in the opening 30 minutes and Peter Smith's charges led by 2-8 to 1-9 at the change of ends.
Sarsfields struck for the game's opening goal through Michael Cussen in the 5th minute but Lehane cancelled that out shortly after with his first green flag.
His second goal in the 21st minute helped reduced a 1-4 to 1-7 deficit and he hit a further three points to parachute his side into a two-point half-time lead.
Sarsfield's restored parity courtesy of Cian McCarthy's second half goal but Midleton had enough in reserve to push on for a first championship success since 1991.
