GAA lights used to grow cannabis
Gardai believe that floodlights stolen from a GAA club in Galway could well be used for the illegal growing of cannabis plants.

Electrical fittings were stolen from floodlights at the Cortoon Shamrocks GAA club between Monday and Wednesday of last week reports the Connacht Tribune. The thieves had to scale 40ft poles to get at the lights, which were then lowered down to the ground, before they made their getaway.

The cost of the equipment stolen is believed to be in the region of €3,000, while the cost to have them replaced is expected to exceed €5,000.

Gardai believe that the equipment has little market value and that it is more likely the equipment will be used in illegal cannabis grow houses.
