Eoin Kelly says the Waterford seaside village of Passage was like Istanbul on Sunday night.

As the Passage players and management made their way home after securing the county SHC for the first time in their history, former Mount Sion and Waterford star Kelly could hardly believe his eyes:

"As we came down the hill into the village, there were huge crowds, lads with flares in the middle of it," he notes in The Irish Examiner.

"As we were saying, it was like a soccer match in Istanbul. I'll never forget it."

Kelly also hinted that the small matter of an impending Munster club championship encounter with either Loughmore Castleiney or Na Piarsaigh would not get in the way of Passage's party:

"We'll give it a good shot - but we'll enjoy the next couple of days as well. It's not every day your club wins its first senior title.

"Sunday has given the whole area a boost and people are right to enjoy it."
