Ulster club SHC: Slaughtneil breeze past 12-man Lisbellaw
October 14, 2013
Slaughneil's Oisin O'Doherty
Slaughtneil (Derry) 4-18
Lisbellaw (Fermanagh) 0-7
Slaughtneil had 23 points to spare over Lisbellaw in a one-sided Ulster club SHC semi-final at Dungannon.
Lisbellaw, who were making their debut at this level, were no match for the Emmet's who had nine different scorers, including full forward Brendan Rodgers who helped himself to a hat-trick of goals. The losers finished the game with 12 players after Colum Rice and Daniel Teague were both sent off on second yellow cards and centre back Matthew Teague received a straight red.
An early Slaughtneil goal from Oisin O'Doherty set the tone for the afternoon. Rodgers raised his first green flag in the 13th minute as the Derry champions went on to lead by 2-10 to 0-5 at the break.
The game was up for Lisbellaw three minutes after the restart when Matthew Teague received his marching orders. Ryan Bogue got two excellent scores for the underdogs, but the result was never in doubt as Slaughtneil eased to a final date against holders Loughgiel.
