Diver: an offer I couldn't refuse

September 27, 2013

Former Donegal footballer Damien Diver
Damien Diver is looking forward to working with his former team-mate Jim McGuinness in the new Donegal management set-up.

Former county stars Diver, John Duffy and Paul McGonigle were unveiled as the new members of McGuinness' backroom team earlier this week following the shock departures of Rory Gallagher, Maxi Curran and Francie Friel last week.

"The opportunity to work with Jim McGuinness and the current Donegal team - one of the top group of players in the country - is something I couldn't turn down," the Ardara clubman told the Donegal Democrat.

"I was involved with Jim at the start in a small way. I took the boys from the south and south-west for strength and conditioning in the first few months of his term.

"There was never a question of getting involved in a full-time capacity at the time. I was still playing with the club's seniors and I wanted to continue on playing at the time."
