Champions Castlehaven needed a late rally to overcome 13-man St. Vincent's in yesterday's Cork SFC quarter-final at Clonakilty.
With 10 minutes remaining, the sides were locked on 1-9 apiece, but the double dismissal of Darren O'Regan and substitute Derek O'Connor proved too great a handicap for the underdogs as Castlehaven - who had Stephen Hurley red-carded before half-time - produced a late surge which yielded three unanswered points and an injury-time goal from Mark Collins.
'Haven will face local rivals Carbery in the semi-final after they recorded an unconvincing 1-10 to 0-8 victory over Aghada. The divisional side's goal was scored by Patrick Kirby at the start of the second half.
In yesterday's other quarter-final at Coachford, Bishopstown produced a tremendous performance to overwhelm Carbery Rangers by 5-10 to 0-14. The game was effectively over at the end of the opening quarter when goals from Denis Crowley and Sam Oakes (two) had propelled the 'Town into a 3-1 to 0-1 lead.
Bishopstown will face the winners of Friday night's outstanding quarter-final tie between city rivals Nemo Rangers and Douglas in the last four.
