Declan Hannon put his All-Ireland semi-final nightmare behind him when he posted 1-9 for Adare in their Limerick SHC quarter-final victory over Ballybrown at the Gaelic Grounds yesterday.
Hannon's tally included 1-3 from play as Adare - who won a three-in-a-row of titles between 2007 and '09 - ran out surprisingly comfortable 2-24 to 1-13 winners after the sides had been level on 0-11 to 1-8 at the break.
Na Piarsaigh were much too strong for Ahane in a repeat of the 2011 final, winning by 3-16 to 0-7. Shane Dowling and Kevin Downes were joint-top scorers for the winners with 0-7 and 2-1 respectively. The city side can now look forward to a semi-final date with champions Kilmallock who cruised to a 0-18 to 0-3 victory over surprise packets Knockainey. Eoin Ryan top-scored for Tony Considine's men with eight points, six of which came from play.
Adare's opponents in the other semi-final will be Doon who eased to a 1-18 to 0-9 win over South Liberties to qualify for the last four for the first time since 2006. The east Limerick side led by six points, 0-11 to 0-5, at the break and put the result beyond doubt with 20 minutes remaining when substitute Dean Coleman scored the only goal.
