Ulster Bank will end its five-year association with the All-Ireland football championship after next month's All-Ireland final.

The Bank has been one of the championship's title sponsors since 2008, and its decision to pull the plug on its sponsorship means there will be no banking involvement with the All-Ireland championship sponsorship for the first time since 1994. Bank of Ireland had been the sole football sponsors before the new multi sponsorship model was introduced five years ago.

Ulster Bank, which employs top GAA stars such as Kieran Donaghy and Karl Lacey, originally shared the sponsorship with Vodafone and Toyota. Vodafone and Toyota were replaced by SuperValu and eircom a few years ago, but Ulster Bank continued.

Last year, Guinness ended its 17-year involvement with the hurling championship and was replaced by Liberty Insurance earlier this year.
