Kieran McGeeney was delighted with the performances of his five debutants in Kildare's Leinster SFC quarter-final win over Offaly.

"They were all flying," he enthused after the Lilywhites prevailed by four points to set up a semi-final date with Dublin on June 30.

"You can't ask for more, there were eight points between two of them in the forward line - it's hard to argue with those facts. Paddy Brophy won every ball given to him, every single one stuck to him. Daniel Flynn was exceptional in midfield, he won loads of premier possession for us. Maybe the older boys have to look to the younger ones to see how it's done."

The Kildare manager believes the winning margin would have been greater but for the heroics of Offaly 'keeper Alan Mulhall. He also insisted he wasn't surprised by how well the massive underdogs fared.

"He is a great 'keeper. He did the same last year, he pulled off three great saves. The one from Eoghan O'Flaherty was an exceptional save.

"I was disappointed that we got sloppy in the second half. We knew they were going to come at us, they are strong, fit and have a great manager in place who knows what he is at."
