A Kerry fundraiser held in New York has raised €163,000 for the development of the centre of excellence.

The county's Diaspora in New York held the fundraiser, which was attended by county board chairman Patrick O'Sullivan and former Kerry footballers Eoin 'Bomber' Liston, Denis 'Ogie' Moran and Mikey Sheehy.

Two fundraisers were held at different locations in the city, while other donations were made, with all the monies raised going towards the development of a centre of excellence at Currans.

The project has already secured a €1 million grant from the Munster Council, while an additional €1.25 million has to be raised by the county board.
