Louth's John Bingham
John Bingham was delighted to be part of the Louth team on Sunday.
The corner back was one of three championship debutants selected by manager Aidan O'Rourke for the trip to Portlaoise and he had an effective match - even managing to get his name on the score sheet - as the Wee County roared to an emphatic victory:
"I have to say I was nervous and I'd say I was wrecking the woman's head during the week," the St Marys clubman quips in The Drogheda Independent.
"All the lads were great and encouraged me and the family help to keep your feet grounded too.
"I just wanted to be part of the team and I was delighted when Aidan picked me. I suppose the point was nice too but the main thing was getting the win.
"We all had a job to do. My job was if someone went out I'd follow them and help with breaks.
"We need to push again now. It's Wexford next and we won't take them lightly and hopefully we can go on further."
