Ulster Bank launches search to find the best 'GAA Home' in the land

Tuesday 21st May 2013:

Ulster Bank GAA stars - Kieran Donaghy, Karl Lacey, Finian Hanley and Tommy McElroy - gathered at a home outside Croke Park today to mark Ulster Bank's sixth year as official sponsor of the GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship and to launch the 'Ulster Bank Best GAA Home' competition - a nationwide search to find the best 'GAA Home' on the island of Ireland.

The Ulster Bank Best GAA Home competition, which runs from 3rd July to 3rd September, will showcase how GAA supporters, across the country, show their support for club and county by turning their homes into GAA fan-zones. Throughout the Football Championship, Ulster Bank is asking supporters to Tweet, post on Facebook and email pictures of how they have decorated their houses, clubs and communities, with their beloved county and club colours.

One overall winner will be selected to win €5,000 towards a home makeover, as well as tickets and hotel accommodation, for their family, to the GAA Football All-Ireland Final in Croke Park. Additional prizes will be given out regularly throughout the campaign. Terms and conditions will apply and will be available on www.ulsterbank.com/gaa from 1st July.

Speaking at today's launch, Jim Ryan, Managing Director of Ulster Bank branch banking, said: "The search is on to find Ireland's best GAA supporters and we look forward to seeing the results. Every year, families across the island of Ireland use their homes and communities to express their support and passion for their club side and county team. We want to recognise their efforts and reward those fans by giving them the opportunity to win €5,000 towards a home makeover, as part of our overall support of sport in our communities. Ulster Bank is a strong supporter of communities and, similar to our Ulster Bank GAA Force initiative, this campaign is about getting communities together to get behind their county heroes."

Also speaking at today's launch, Paul Dermody from the GAA, said: "The 2013 GAA Football Championship has started with a bang with some intriguing clashes over the last two weekends and I don't expect any let up in the weeks and, indeed months, ahead. I wish football sponsors Ulster Bank every success with their own promotional activity around our games and already note the popularity of their GAA Force campaign which, in seasons past, has helped clubs across the country. The imagination and attention to the detail, in addition to the involvement of a large number of players who work for the company, make them a perfect partner for the GAA and the football championship in particular."
