Mulligan's Tyrone career over?

Tyrone's Owen Mulligan and Ciaran Fitzpatrick of Kildare during the opening round of the NFL Div 2 at Croke Park
Owen Mulligan has been named as one of BBC Northern Ireland's championship pundits.

The Cookstown captain's role on the television programme seems to have ended any slim hope there was of him appearing for the Red Hands this summer.

The three-times All-Ireland SFC winner has been the subject of intense will-he-or-won't-he speculation all year, having sat out the league due to club commitments.

But he admits himself that it was unlikely that Mickey Harte was going to be calling on his services:

"I attended two in-house matches some time ago but heard nothing back, so I take it I'm not in his plans."

Mulligan's situation has parallels to that of Sligo's Eamonn O'Hara, who this week announced his intercounty retirement shortly after being named as a Sunday Game analyst.
