Moran has eye surgery

Kerry's David Moran
Kerry's David Moran is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on an eye injury he sustained during a SF challenge against Laois on Saturday.

It's the latest injury setback the 25-year-old has suffered in recent years. He had just come back from a second cruciate ligament rupture before suffering a shoulder injury in a club game in March, which ruled him out of Kerry's Allianz League campaign.

Moran is now facing the prospect of missing Kerry's Munster SFC opener against Tipperary on May 26 - and the next round against Waterford a week later - should they progress. In Saturday's challenge game in Killarney, the midfielder was caught by a flying elbow and had special laser treatment at Cork University Hospital yesterday.

It will be another fortnight before it is known if Moran's vision has or has not been affected.
