Waterford hurling boss Michael Ryan expects Richie Foley to return to training next week.

The Abbeyside clubman missed the Deise's Allianz League campaign after undergoing a hip operation in March, but will return to the fold ahead of the Munster SHC semi-final against Clare on June 2

"Richie Foley will be back in training next week," Ryan confirmed to the Irish Independent.

The manager has refused to rule out the possibility of veteran Tony Browne - who returned to the panel last month - playing some part against the Banner in Thurles.

"He hasn't made any decision yet. It's a 'play it by ear' job. I wouldn't rule him out, though, and Tony's in good shape." Tweet
